Xiaomi and Honor are reportedly developing new foldable phones in the manner of books, according to a story that surfaced earlier this week. Expected to be powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip are Xiaomi’s Mix Fold 4 and Honor’s Magic V3.
The report also suggested that the Mix Fold 4’s battery had a capacity of 5000mAh, however it withheld information on the Magic V3’s battery. However, a faint indication pointed to an even larger battery for the V3.
Digital Chat Station, a tipster on Weibo, has disclosed that Honor’s foldable will have a 5000mAh battery, just like the Mix Fold 4.
Right now, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is the foldable with the biggest battery since, despite its thin design, it has a sizable 5700mAh cell. It appears that it will maintain its crown for some time to come.
The informant also disclosed that although both foldables would be slimmer, they will still have side-mounted fingerprint sensors similar to those of their predecessors. According to the most recent leak, the Mix Fold 4 is anticipated to be the thinnest foldable when it launches.
In addition, the leaker confirmed previously leaked information regarding the Fold 4’s camera configuration, which has a 50MP quad camera system with a 5x periscope lens. The Honor Magic V3 is anticipated to have a centrally aligned camera configuration with a minimum bulge, while DCS points out that Xiaomi’s foldable has a very apparent camera bulge.
Both companies are developing flip foldables in addition to book-style foldables. While Xiaomi has not yet released information about its flip phone, Honor has already confirmed the June 20 launch date for its first clamshell handset, the Magic V Flip.
July is anticipated to see the arrival of both the Honor Magic V3 and the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4. Xiaomi may include its flip phone with the Fold 4.
