The first smartphone to use Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC—which has a peak clock speed of 3.3GHz—was the Xiaomi 14 series, which was introduced in October 2023. The final quarter of 2024 is when the company plans to release the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, its next generation chipset. Xiaomi is expected to be the first smartphone manufacturer to release a device powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, according to a fresh leak. The new chipset may be used by the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro as their initial devices.
On X (formerly Twitter), tipster Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) asserts that Xiaomi will be the first company to release phones with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. According to Brar, the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro will be the first smartphones to ship with the next generation mobile platform because the Chinese smartphone brand has “exclusive first launch rights” for the new chipset. The next two phones to be released with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 could be the OnePlus 13 and iQoo 13.
Since Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip was unveiled last year, the Xiaomi 14 lineup has been the first to use it. Before being released in other countries, the Xiaomi 15 flagships are anticipated to make their debut in China. Presumably, these phones will be released shortly after the release of this year’s flagship processor, based on the Xiaomi 14 series.
It is anticipated that TSMC will use its 3nm fabrication process to design the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. A customized Oryon CPU and Qualcomm’s FastConnect 7900 networking system might be included. Asus Zenfone 11 and Samsung Galaxy S25 series are two more flagship phones that are anticipated to get it.
October 2023 saw the launch of Xiaomi’s 14 and 14 Pro in China. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra was introduced in India for Rs. 99,999, while the Xiaomi 14 is priced at Rs. 69,999 for the 12GB + 512GB variant.
