Vivo fulfilled their promise and unveiled the X Fold3 and X Fold3 Pro in China. The circular rear camera housing, carbon fiber hinge, alert slider, and identical screens are all features of these foldable phones that are similar in design.
At 120 Hz refresh rate and 2480 x 2200 pixel resolution, the display’s inner panel measures 8.03′′ diagonally. Up to 4,500 nits of local peak brightness can be achieved using Samsung E7 material. The display cover measures 6.53′′ and has a refresh rate of 120Hz. It can achieve a maximum brightness of 4,500 nits. The resolution of the cover is 1172 x 2748 pixels.
The TÜV Rhineland-certified lightweight carbon fiber hinge of the X Fold3 models weighs just 14.98 grams and can withstand 500,000 folds. Vivo has improved the phones’ drop resistance; in comparison to the X Fold2, the front is 11 times more resistant and the back is 15 times more resistant.
The impact-resistant film and UTG are also included in the foldable display. By comparison, the standard device folds to a thickness of 10.2mm, whereas the X Fold3 Pro measures 11.2mm. It weighs 219 grams for the X Fold3 and 236 grams for the Pro model.
The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset powers the X Fold3 Pro, which is available with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage in two configurations: 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB. It has a specially designed Vivo V3 imaging chip.
The 50MP “ultra-sensing” primary camera on the X Fold3 Pro is equipped with an f/1.68 lens with OIS and a 1/1.3″ OmniVision OV50H sensor. It also has a 50MP ultra-wide-angle module and a 64MP 3x telephoto module. Both of the selfie cameras make use of two 32MP sensors.
The X Fold3, on the other hand, has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and supports configurations ranging from 12GB/256GB to 16GB/1TB. A 50MP Sony sensor serves as the primary camera in this setup, in addition to a 50MP portrait and an ultra-wide camera. The same applies to selfie cameras.
With a 5,700mAh battery, the Pro model outperforms the X Fold3 with its 5,500mAh battery. While the X Fold3 only supports 80W wired charging, the Pro supports both 50W and 100W wired charging.
Both phones come equipped with an IR blaster, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, and dual-SIM 5G connectivity. The Pro model has two 3D ultrasonic fingerprint readers, wireless lossless hi-fi audio, stereo speakers, and USB 3.2 Gen2. The Pro model is water resistant up to IPX8, while the X Fold3 has a side-mounted fingerprint reader and is IPX4 rated.
