Two security flaws on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac are fixed by Apple

To fix these, you should update as soon as you can.

Apple released updates for the iOS, iPadOS, and macOS operating systems, fixing two zero-day security flaws. According to the business, the bugs had been actively used in the wild. Regarding these vulnerabilities, Apple stated in its security reports that it  “Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited against versions of iOS before iOS 16.7.1,”Updates to the iPhone, iPad, and Mac’s software are now available to close the gaps.

Both attacks were found and reported by Google Threat Analysis Group (TAG) researcher Clément Lecigne. The Google TAG team frequently discovers and discloses zero-day defects against high-risk persons, such as politicians, journalists, and dissidents, as Bleeping Computer points out. Apple withheld information regarding the nature of any attacks that exploited the vulnerabilities.

WebKit, the open-source browser technology used by Apple that powers Safari, was impacted by the two security holes. Apple stated that “processing web content may disclose sensitive information” in its description of the first problem. “Processing web content may lead to arbitrary code execution,” it stated in the second.

This means that the security patches are compatible with the following devices: “iPhone XS and later, iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2nd generation and later, iPad Pro 10.5-inch, iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation and later, iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 6th generation and later, and iPad mini 5th generation and later.

You shouldn’t be alarmed because there is very little chance that your devices were impacted by either of them; nonetheless, it is advisable to upgrade your Apple products right now just to be safe. By going to Settings > General > Software upgrade and tapping the prompt to start it, you may upgrade your iPhone or iPad right away. Follow the same steps on a Mac by going to System Settings > General > Software Update. Today, iOS 17.1.2, iPadOS 17.1.2, and macOS Sonoma 14.1.2 received Apple’s patches.
