Over the course of the next 12 to 18 months, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is reportedly preparing to introduce up to three new SUVs in India. A new electric SUV that will be released in the latter part of 2025 is one of these; it is based on the same platform as the future Maruti Suzuki eVX. It is anticipated that this electric SUV would have a 550 km driving range.
Two new hybrid SUVs from Toyota are expected to be released before the release of the five-seater midsize electric SUV. With these acquisitions, the Japanese carmaker hopes to appeal to a wider spectrum of consumers by expanding its SUV lineup. The following are the key characteristics of each of these models:
- Electric SUV produced by Toyota:
Based on the Urban SUV concept that was unveiled last year, Toyota’s first electric SUV for India is anticipated to be on sale in the H2 2025. The platform, which is a 27PL variant, is just one of the many similarities between it and the Maruti Suzuki eVX. Anticipate a variety of cutting-edge features and technologies within this electrified SUV, such as 360-degree camera, ADAS, digital cluster, and free-standing touchscreen.
- All-electric Toyota Fortuner:
A 48-volt mild hybrid system is going to be installed in the Toyota Fortuner MHEV. With this technology, the current GD series diesel engine will perform even better because it will produce more power and torque, especially while accelerating and driving at low speeds. Enhancing fuel efficiency and lowering emissions are further benefits.
It is presently available for purchase in markets like South Africa with the Hilux MHEV, despite the fact that official launch details are still unknown. It is possible that it may be unveiled later this year or in early 2025.
- Toyota Hyryder, Seating Seven:
It is anticipated that the seven-seat Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder will debut in early to mid-2025. It will receive cosmetic upgrades and additional features to differentiate it from the base model as it positions itself to compete with other three-row SUVs such as the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and MG Hector Plus. With the 1.5L mild hybrid and 1.5L powerful hybrid gasoline engines, it will remain stationary.
