Today marks the official launch of Tecno’s new mid-range smartphone, the Spark 20, for the Malaysian market, as promised. Only two of the disclosed colorways will be available locally, but other details indicate that it will have the same specs as when it launches in India.
In summary, the recently released smartphone has a more potent MediaTek chipset and more internal storage than Tecno’s entry-level Spark 20C, but it still has some design and component similarities. The Spark 20 has a 6.6-inch screen with HD+ (720 x 1612 pixels) resolution and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The phone itself is rated IP53 for water and dust resistance, and it comes with Android 13 via the brand’s HiOS 13 platform, dual stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
It has a mid-range MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage on the inside. Be aware that the Tecno Spark 20 is advertised as having 16GB of RAM due to its built-in virtual memory expansion feature, which allows you to add up to 8GB more after conversion. Additionally, a microSD card slot that supports storage expansion of up to 1TB is available in case you require additional space. In the meantime, a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging via USB-C powers the phone.
Two cameras are located on the back of the phone: a 0.08MP auxiliary camera and a 50MP primary sensor. A 32MP selfie camera is located in the punch-hole cutout on the front of the device. The Dynamic Port, which is Tecno’s version of the iPhone’s Dynamic Island feature, will also be housed in the same cutout.
With official brand online stores on Shopee and Lazada, the new Tecno Spark 20 is currently available for RM499. Neon Gold and Magic Skin 2.0 (Blue) are not available for the phone in Malaysia, as it is only available in Gravity Black and White colorways.
