Study Finds CBD is Beneficial for Cats

In the present scenario, a cat owner is always searching for care-tips. During the search, every cat owner is exploring treatment with the CBD oil to keep the cats healthy. In earlier times, it wasn’t a treatment which was taken into consideration by Western medication. It is nothing surprising since many people are adapting CBD as a magical treatment for several health conditions. Researches have revealed that the plant is extremely positive and shows the fruitful result of inflammation. Though, there is no official scientific study present, which shows the plant’s effect on a cat or any other pet.

Now the question arises “Is it safe to treat a cat with cannabis? And what ailments could be possibly treated with it?”

Get into briefs about CBD oil

The cannabis plant is formed with about more than 100 compounds which are active in nature. Though, when looking for a medicinal purpose, it is the only one which fits best into the category which is CBD (cannabidiol). CBD is something which is completely different than the active compound known as Tetrahydrocannabinol. THC is usually a high compound which comes with a psychoactive effect. It means that THC has a high effect on the users to make them feel really ‘high’ after its consumption. CBD oil doesn’t contain a high degree of THC and comprises of a high degree of CBD. Generally, CBD oil is accepted for use in therapeutic and medicinal purposes.

Dr. Daniel Inman, a famous veterinary at Burlington Emergency Veterinary Specialists in Williston says “When searching for any classical study on the medicinal effect of CBD oil on a cat or any other pet, there are not many options available.” In addition, he mentioned, “While CBD oil is not much recommended for patients, it is used for curing a number of ailments such as pain, anxiety, and inflammation by the holistic veterinarians.”

Inman gave a clear statement that CBD oil is occupied in major use for raising a greater level of comfort and ensuring better life quality for the cat or any other pet. CBD oil is not necessarily involved in the curing remedies for the pets. If any cat owner is willing to opt CBD oil as a treatment, then he or she should take the consent from the veterinarian.

What about the safety concern of using CBD oil for cats?

Despite the fact that any scientific study doesn’t exist declaring cannabis impact on a cat or any other pet, Dr. Gary Richter (a holistic veterinary), “greenthevoteok” says “CBD oil can be used as a medication for cats. Though, some unpropitious effects that may arise while giving CBD oil to your cat or any other pet such as some kind of sedation or gastrointestinal problems which can easily be relieved with the termination of CBD oil.”

He added “The big issues lie on the dosage. In terms of medical outlook, it is important to be sure that pets are given the right dosage. It means any overdosing situation could be adverse.”

“With the lacking of formal, recorded, or official research on the cannabis product impact on cats, it is uncertain to make any recommendation regarding the use of CBD on cats,” says Dr. Liza Guess (a clinical assistant professor in Ohio State University Department of Veterinary Medicine in Columbus, Ohio).

She adds, “I’ve been familiar with the fact that marijuana generated products are useful in humans for certain conditions such as anxiety, neuropathic pain, appetite stimulation, and intractable seizures. I own a number of medications other than the cannabis in each category which is comfortable to be used in cats safely. All these medications have undergone an extremely careful study and are holding an approval from the FDA also. There is no reason behind using any unofficial treatment which can’t even be guaranteed whether it is safe or not! It is not sure that even the right dosage has been clarified in an official manner.”

Richter says “All the cat owners who are searching for CBD oil on the online web must opt for a laboratory tested product. It is also crucial to look after the dangerous contaminants, including heavy metals, bacteria, and fungus.”
