In the relatively recent past, the Inspiration4 mission put civilian astronauts into space interestingly. They went into space on board a unique Crew Dragon container that dumped the docking equipment typically used to interface with the ISS for a dome that permitted the space explorers to see space and the Earth during their central goal.
