Satish Kaushik, an actor and director, began to feel unwell Friday night while he was at a farm in Delhi’s Bijwasan. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Gurugram. According to police sources, a preliminary autopsy indicates that the man had a heart attack and passed away before getting to the hospital.
The inquiry into the death of the 66-year-old actor has turned up nothing unusual, according to sources with the Delhi South West police. The sources noted that additional investigation will reveal more details regarding the manner and timing of the death.
Mr. Kaushik arrived in Delhi yesterday to join his friends in celebrating Holi. He had joined the Holi celebration the day before at Javed Akhtar-Shabana Azmi’s Mumbai house and shared happy pictures online.
Mr. Kaushik, who was nurtured in Karol Bagh and was born in Haryana, graduated from the National School of Theatre. His most well-known roles include Ashok in the 1983 cult classic Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, for which he also authored dialogue. He is known for his comic timing. The cook named ‘Calendar’ in the Anil Kapoor-Sridevi starrer Mr India is another unforgettable character played by Mr Kaushik.
