Since its initial release at CES 2024, Samsung Electronics has been offering its 3D Map View feature, which is now accessible in all nations with SmartThings connectivity.
Real floor plans are converted into virtual images in the SmartThings app, which simplifies home management with Map View. At every time and location, users can conveniently control lighting, temperature, air quality, and energy consumption while maintaining clear visibility of their devices.
By removing the need to locate each device individually before using it, Map View simplifies the management of the increasing number of connected devices in homes across the globe. When more devices are connected, it automatically updates to give users a comprehensive view of their entire home.
The prior iteration of Map View was a 2D model that was limited to homes with a floor plan. But this recently updated 3D Map View uses the LiDAR sensors in Samsung devices, like the Bespoke Jet BotTM, to precisely measure and map the layout of a home. This is made possible by Spatial AI in Samsung devices. With 3D maps, users can now comprehend the layout and dimensions of their homes with greater ease.
Additionally, the feature’s filter function has been improved to enable more effective device control and monitoring. By the end of the year, it hopes to provide a more personalized and approachable smart service through the use of AI characters, which were also introduced at CES 2024.

Map View was first made available in the US and Korea late last year. But as of right now, it works in any nation where the SmartThings app is available.
