Samsung introduces cloud gaming for Galaxy smartphones, but it’s not what you may expect

The US version of Samsung’s cloud gaming services for Galaxy devices was first made available in beta in 2023.

As hinted at earlier this year, Samsung has formally launched cloud gaming services through the Galaxy smartphones’ “Gaming Hub.” Strangely, the revelation was tucked away in a piece on the company’s newsroom that was mostly commercial in nature. However, the feature is now available on the Samsung Gaming Hub.

Samsung’s version of cloud gaming for Galaxy devices merely permits Android games to be played without requiring a complete download, in contrast to other cloud gaming services that typically concentrate on bringing PC/console games to platforms that wouldn’t otherwise be able to run those games. Monopoly Go!, Homescapes, Marvel Contest of Champions, and more games are now displayed as examples on Gaming Hub.

Streaming starts almost immediately after choosing a game, providing a speedy start without the wait time involved in local installations. However, compared to what may be anticipated from a local install, the game’s graphics look to have a somewhat lower resolution, producing a significantly softer image. In spite of this, it is a practical substitute for downloading and installing a lot of big games. A Samsung account is necessary to stream games.

Interestingly, games even function on the larger aspect ratio of the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
