From Grace Cyril On Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s chemistry won over viewers. The movie had a fantastic opening weekend at the box office after its Holi (8 March) release. After Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, it had the second-best opening for a Bollywood movie this year. TJMM increased its revenue by Rs 10 crore on March 9, Day 2. It was almost Rs 5 crore less than its previous day’s collection. The romantic comedy, directed by Luv Ranjan, also marked the acting debut of Boney Kapoor.
It appears that many people are packing the theatres to see Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. The Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor movie made Rs 15 crore in India on its first day of release. Early trade reports state that TJMM brought in Rs 10 crore on Day 2. As a result, the total amount collected is now Rs 25.73 crore. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar had an overall 11.46 per cent Hindi Occupancy on March 9.
Box Office India claimed that, “On day two, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar barely managed to stay above water as it fell by roughly 35%. With a complete holiday and widespread benefits from Holi, this decline would have been quite favourable; however, with a partial holiday, the decline is on the higher side. The bigger issue is the film only has 23 crore nett up on the board over the two day holiday period so there is a lot of work to do and it becomes a must for the film to be up on Friday which should happen in cities but mass could see further drops as the Holi factor dies.”
Ranbir also has Animal in development for his career. On the other hand, Shraddha will shortly start filming for Stree 2.
