Xiaomi is gradually updating the software on an increasing number of its smartphones following the official launch of the new HyperOS in India last month. “Poco has released its own roadmap for the operating system, following Xiaomi’s release of the HyperOS rollout plan for Redmi and Xiaomi phones last week.” Three Poco devices—the Poco M6 Pro, Poco X6, and Poco M4 5G—are currently running HyperOS. HyperOS was installed on all three of these smartphones in March 2024. On the other hand, HyperOS was preinstalled on the Poco X6 Pro at launch.
Additionally, HyperOS is currently available for the Poco C55, Poco X5, Poco M5, Poco X5 Pro, and Poco F5 from last year.
Poco will also roll out HyperOS to five more phones in the second quarter of 2024, which corresponds to the months of April, May, and June. The Poco F4 is the first device on the roadmap to receive the new OS, followed by the Poco M4 Pro, Poco C65, Poco M6, and Poco X6 Neo.
What is Included in the HyperOS Update?
The user experience is improved in a number of ways by the HyperOS update. In comparison to MIUI 14, it maximizes storage utilization, saves system space, and expedites processes like OTA updates.
Additionally, HyperOS adds new functionality to increase productivity, such as customizable lock screens, a redesigned control center, updated fonts and icons, and a tablet Workstation Mode. Also, it improves connectivity, enabling users to conveniently control smart home devices with the Xiaomi Smart Hub and see the screen of their phone on a tablet thanks to improved interconnectivity features.
In China, HyperOS made its debut concurrently with the release of the Xiaomi 14 series phones. Said to be a “human-centric” operating system, it has a contemporary look and a range of features like smooth device transitions, remote data and app access, and AI-enabled functions like voice generation, image search, and creative artwork production. By addressing the challenges of managing varied device ecosystems, these features seek to an easy-to-use and effective interface across Xiaomi’s product lineup.
