Poco F6 Set to Introduce Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Processor in India

The announcement is official. With the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 engine, the Poco F6 will be the first smartphone in India. Distinguished guests, like Poco India CEO Himanshu Tandon, attended Qualcomm’s official launch of the new processor today, which was centered around India. Poco then made the announcement on its social media platforms, seemingly at the stroke of midnight.

Several smartphones run on the new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, not just the Poco F6. While it is unique to China, Xiaomi’s Civi 4 Pro is the current champion. In theory, the Poco F6 is the smartphone that will simultaneously introduce the new processor to a larger number of people worldwide because it is debuting globally.

Processor Specs for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is a 4nm chip that aims to offer several high-end capabilities similar to the top-tier Snapdragon 8-series CPUs, such as the 8 Gen 2 and 8 Gen 3, but at a lower cost. Consider it a “flagship killer” processor for smartphones.

The eight-core processor supports up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage in addition to USB 3.1 Gen 2 connectivity via USB-C. Its Cortex-X4 prime core clocks at 3.0GHz, four “big” performance cores at 2.8GHz, and three “small/little” efficiency cores at 2.0GHz.

Even while the 8s Gen 3 outperforms the 8 Gen 3 in some tasks, it stands out thanks to its on-device AI support, which can power models like the Llama 2, Baichuan-7B, and Gemini Nano that have up to 10 billion parameters. It would be interesting to watch if Poco launches the Poco F6 with a big fuss about AI.

Poco defeats OnePlus

Ahead of the Poco F6 launch—which is scheduled for May 23—Poco has announced that it recorded a year-on-year growth of 72.2 percent in the first quarter of 2024. Citing a report from the International Data Corporation (IDC), Poco said it OnePlus to become India’s No.6 brand amongst the top Android OEMs. Its market share during the period was reportedly 5.9 percent.

“Himanshu Tandon, the head of Poco’s India division, stated in a prepared statement that the company’s extraordinary growth is a direct result of our continuous commitment to innovation and our profound comprehension of our customers’ needs.” As time goes on, we’re more committed than ever to keeping up this momentum and creating new standards for the sector. For us, 2024 seems to have a lot of promise,” he continued.
