Radiologists may now operate more efficiently and productively thanks to the latest AI-powered CT from Philips Korea, the Philips CT 5300.
The introduction is in line with findings from Philips’ Future Health Index 2024 APAC Report, which emphasizes how healthcare executives around the globe are focusing more on AI and data integration to address important issues including labor shortages and budgetary constraints.
Within the next three years, over half of Asia-Pacific’s healthcare executives plan to implement generative AI, anticipating that it will increase diagnostic precision and lessen the workload of medical practitioners.
The CT 5300 also attempts to address issues related to radiation exposure.
According to a 2023 report by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, CT scans account for 67.3 percent of all radiation exposure in diagnostic imaging, which is a substantial amount.
In response, the NanoPanel Detector, which is especially made for AI-based image reconstruction, is included with the Philips CT 5300. This enables high-quality images at lower radiation dosages.
The device includes Philips’ Precise Image technology, which reduces noise and distortion that can happen during low-dose scans by using deep learning AI to customize CT image reconstruction to specific organs and body locations.
This feature makes it appropriate for use with vulnerable patient populations, including as children and the elderly, as it can reduce radiation exposure by up to 80% while maintaining image clarity.
Additionally, the CT 5300 has capabilities that improve cardiac diagnosis. According to recent research, CT scans can assist people who are experiencing chest pain avoid needless procedures by screening for undiscovered coronary artery disease.
Retakes are less necessary thanks to the Precise Cardiac function of the system, which employs AI to reduce image blur brought on by fast or irregular heartbeats. It also lowers injection speeds and contrast agent use, which is advantageous for people with kidney problems or weak blood arteries.
A user-friendly interface and the CT 5300’s Smart Workflow function maximize the effectiveness of CT exams while lightening the burden on medical staff. By enabling automatic segmentation and accurate placement, additional capabilities like accurate Spine, Precise Rib, and Precise Position improve diagnostic accuracy and shorten exam times.
The CT 5300 allows interventional operations, including biopsies, in addition to diagnostic imaging. This is made possible by its Needle Guidance function, which precisely positions biopsy needles.
Philips Korea, in the meantime, intends to debut the gadget in Korea during the forthcoming 80th Annual Korean Congress of Radiology (KCR 2024), which takes place from October 2 to October 5.
