Obtaining the official world presence permit in Sanshou competitions for Farzaneh Dehghani and other women which is considered as a new era, how were the officials and the nationalists’ reactions

For the first time, the Wushu Federation received a permanent permit for the presence of our country’s women sanshou fighters with Islamic hijab in world competitions. According to the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), this decision triggered some reactions from the official and nationalist figures of our country’s women’s sanshou community, as follows: ** Marzooqi: “Public interest in wushu will increase.” Zohreh Marzooqi, the vice president of the Wushu Federation said: “The new plan for the women present in the world competitions in Wushu, especially in Asia with Islamic clothing, will attract many women to Wushu soon. Marzooqi also said: “Currently, there is no problem for women to participate in world competitions; I am sure that despite the limited presence of the females in most fields of the sport, the number of people interested in learning sport such as wushu will increase. She continued: “Obtaining this license will be a basic change in women’s wushu in the country, especially in the Muslim countries in the Middle East.” “Thanks to the federation’s efforts, this has finally happened, and it will result in a reduction in the negative thoughts of most countries towards veiled women”. Marzooqi believes that when the Iranian team won a bronze medal in Taloo by Sanya Moallempour and two bronze medals by Fatemeh and Farzaneh Dehghani in Sanshou with Islamic clothing in the Asian Games in Singapore, this has been proven for the officials of the World and Asian Federation and other countries. There is no obstacle to winning a medal in women’s wushu. Marzooqi said: “By obtaining this license, we need to train well-versed instructors and coaches so that we can meet the requirements of wushu in the near countries.” In the end, she said optimistically: “After 7 stages of non-participation of the Iranian women team in the World Wushu Championships (in the Sanshou section), I hope that the Sanshou fighters of the national team and Wushu will stand at top rankings.” Zahra Asgardoon: “Attending the World Championships is the best opportunity to prove their expertness.” Zahra Asgardoon, a member of the Sanshou national team, said that obtaining a license for Iranian women to participate in world competitions and starting a path for our country’s representatives in foreign events is the best opportunity to prove Iran’s Sanshou team ability in winning. When we go on the mat with Islamic clothing, it will have positive effects on other Islamic countries. Mahsa Bitaraf: “I can also be a medalist in an international arena.” Mahsa Bitaraf, who won the first place for three seasons in the national championships, happily said about the presence of the Sanshou women team in the world championships: “Previously, we could only participate in the national championships, but now we can try and be trained for the World Cup championship”. Bitaraf who is currently in the national team camp continued: I became the national champion for three seasons and participating in national competitions was an ordinary matter for me and there was no higher goal to make bigger efforts for. She continued: ” we participated only at the national level, but now women compare themselves with men and are aware of the bigger competitions that they have to prepare for.” “Women’s workouts have become much more serious and crucial,” said Bitaraf. “I train twice a day, but we used to have only three training sessions a week.” In the end, she added: “I am glad that the infrastructures have been set for the new generation to be medalists in the world-Asian arenas as well.”
