The release date of iOS 18 has been disclosed by Apple, and it is quickly approaching. On September 16th, the update will be available, adding new customization options for your iPhone’s lockscreen and homescreen.
With iOS 18, you have complete control over how apps and widgets show on your homescreen. Along with support for satellite communications and a new password management tool, Apple is also releasing a redesigned Control Center. Additional upgrades include redesigned Photos and Mail apps, new text effects in messages, and options to arrange your inbox.
The Apple Intelligence capabilities that will be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and other iPhone 16 models are not included in this update, though. The AI-powered Image Playground will enable you to create images and rewrite and summarize text with the help of the upcoming tools. These additions, along with a more conversational Siri, will begin to appear in the October public beta of iOS 18.1.
Additionally, Apple said that September 16th will see the release of macOS Sequoia, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2. While watchOS 11 offers new training tools, visionOS 2 has an ultrawide virtual Mac display, and macOS Sequoia adds iPhone mirroring. Nothing is known about tvOS 18.
