Mimoh Chakraborty discusses the period when his actor-father Mithun Chakraborty appeared in a number of films, but the calibre of those pictures fell short of his own expectations.
Mimoh Chakraborty has defended his father Mithun Chakraborty’s decision to participate in “B-grade films” when he was just starting out in the business. The eldest child of Mithun and Yogita Bali is named Mimoh. According to Mimoh in a recent interview, Mithun did everything for the family since they needed the money.
Asked if Mithun or Mimoh ever regretted that the quality of films went down when the actor shot films in 30 days and invited producers to shoot them in his Ooty hotel, Mimoh told Siddharth Kannan, “He did it for us, he did it for the hotel. There was a constant influx because every cast member from Bollywood films as well as visitors from the South would stay at our hotel. Although he was doing it for financial gain, his producers weren’t actually losing money. If they invested 70 lakh rupees in a movie, they would have made 1 crore. He never had any qualms. That was a phase like ‘I want to save for my children’. Even today, he’s doing Dance Bangla Dance,
With Jimmy, Mimoh began his acting career. He played a prominent part in Vikram Bhatt’s Haunted – 3D after making his acting debut. Since then, he has contributed to films including Rocky, Loot, Emmy, and Main Mulayam Singh Yadav, among others. He most recently appeared in Jogira Sara Ra Ra with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Neha Sharma.
