Microsoft has admitted that its latest Windows update has unknowingly uninstalls the Copilot app with some Windows 11 tools. The issue arising after Tuesday’s update of March 11, the AI-manual assistant was removed and unnecessary from the taskbar.

“We know about a problem with the Microsoft Copilot app affecting some equipment,” Microsoft said in a support document. Redmund assured users that it was working on a fix, which advises the affected people to restore the app from the Microsoft Store and manually pin it into the taskbar as a temporary solution.

The issue is related to cumulative updates, which were involved in this month’s security patch, which was associated with cumulative updates. Microsoft is yet to explain why bug is happening or adding it to its Windows release health dashboard, where it usually provides updates on known issues.

The phenomenon follows a similar event in June 2024 when a Microsoft Edge update accidentally established the Copillot app on some Windows 10 and Windows 11 Systems. At that time, Microsoft clarified that unexpected installations had to prepare some devices for future copilot integration and did not transmit any user data.

Microsoft is rolling out an upgrade of Copilot for Windows, rolling out the native version, introducing a re-designed user interface and a press-to-talk feature that enables voice interactions by holding Alt + spacebar keys. Redmund is expected to declare additional growth to Copilot during a special event on 4 April, marking its 50th anniversary.

Microsoft is developing AI model to compete with Openai

The unexpected expulsion of Copilot is one of the many recent issues affecting Microsoft services. The company confirmed a distinct problem related to CITRIX components, which prevents some devices from completing the Windows security update January 2025. Additionally, some users on ARM devices have previously reported to be unable to download and play Roblox from Microsoft Store, in which a resolution is still pending. While Microsoft is yet to provide a time -long line for an official fix, the affected users can manually restore the copilot until an update releasing an update is released.

Recently, reports came out that Microsoft is working on its own AI Reasoning Model, which is part of the effort to reduce dependence on Openai. According to the information, the company is evaluating models from XAI, Meta and Deepsek for possible integration in Copilot. The British entrepreneur is developing a set of models known as Microsoft’s AI Division Mai, led by British entrepreneur Mustafa Suleman, allegedly corresponds to the performance of the major AI system. This initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy to diversify AI capabilities and low operating costs.
