Microsoft Uses Full-Screen Ads to Encourage Users to Upgrade to Windows 11

Microsoft has begun displaying full-screen advertisements encouraging customers to upgrade in a number of ways as the company prepares to formally discontinue support for its Windows 10 operating system in less than a year.

Ads with various messages have purportedly been sent to users. Advertisements are urging owners of computers with the right hardware to upgrade straight to Windows 11.

Ads urging users to upgrade to a Copilot+ PC are displayed to those whose PCs do not meet the hardware specifications of the new system.

Microsoft’s end-of-life policy for operating systems includes discontinuing security patches, software updates, and technical support.

Fans of the cherished OS, which was released almost ten years ago, are not encouraged by this.

The last day of support for Windows 10 will be October 14, 2025.

Ironically, in an attempt to enhance the system, Windows reopened beta testing for Windows 10 earlier this year.

Microsoft’s advertising methods are causing problems for more people than just Windows 10 customers.

Intruding advertisements promoting Microsoft Defender and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on the Microsoft Store have also been reported by numerous Windows 11 users.

Given the internet giant’s ad testing activities, which started in April of last year, this is not surprising.

Many people responded by expressing their dissatisfaction with the decision on social media. Some even distributed software designed by users to get rid of all OS advertisements.

Because of Microsoft’s dubious usage of advertising strategies, consumer discontent may increase as the corporation continues to promote its most recent upgrade.

In protest, users can even think about moving to a new operating system.

Microsoft will need to maintain user trust as the computing landscape changes. The company’s capacity to retain customers may depend on how it handles this feedback.
