The terms “influencer” or “Instafamous” are a few of the many titles that almost everybody wants to be called. In 2021, social media is apart of many peoples’ lives. Instagram, in particular, has one billion plus active monthly users. With an access to that many potential followers, anybody would like to achieve a status of notoriety on the platform.
Amaan Surani, CEO of Slay Media LLC and creator of Instagram pages @ScaryClip and @Terrors, has a few pieces of advice to share with aspiring creators/influencers.
Personality traits required to succeed in the business.
“You have to have a passion and a vision, to start off with. Know what you want, and how bad you want it. With these two elements, you’re unstoppable,” Amaan says.
Be creative, be remembered for something that only you have done.
“Don’t attempt at going viral if you’re planning on copying somebody else’s unique ideas and hard work. It’s not going to work out. I promise. Do something to stand out from the crowd, doing something that hasn’t been done before is even better. But you have to, at least, give the audience a good reason to follow you.
Understand that it isn’t an overnight process.
Making mistakes is apart of the process of becoming successful. Like a baby learns to walk by falling down and hurting him/herself, you too will fall down, and many times. That’s natural, don’t let that discourage you. Instead, use that as experience to not make the same mistakes again in the future. Walt Disney, prior to creating his brand, was fired from the Kansas City Star for “lacking imagination.” J.K. Rowling had the story of Harry Potter rejected by multiple companies before one had finally decided to publish her book. My point is, failure shouldn’t stop you. Expect it to happen, as nothing valuable is easily obtained. But don’t give up, and you could potentially be the next big thing!
