Born on May 17, 1984 at Kalanaur, a small town of Gurdaspur district in Punjab state, started casting in 2002, moved to Mumbai in 2008, became active in mainstream entertainment industry in 2010, held records with India Book of Records and Asia Book Of Records for maximum castings in the world in 2018 & 2019 respectively and now a well-established Director, Dinesh Sudarshan Soi has come a very long way. Academically ACCA (I), M.com & MBA Dinesh has done teaching, modelling, acting and casting before settling down as a Director. He got married to Sonia Malhotra (now Sonia Malhotra Soi) on March 7, 2018 and became father of a baby girl named ‘Maesha Soi’ on May 2, 2020. The baby girl seems lucky for him as he has come up with a fabulous music label – DS Creations™️ Music. Dinesh Sudarshan Soi has been a part as a Casting Director for several feature films like Cinema Chupista Maava, Saat Saheliyan, Jatts In Golmaal, Jatt Airways, Main Krishna Hoon, Mr. & Mrs. 420, Mr. & Mrs. 420 Returns, Uda Aida, Dil Diyan Gallan, Blackia, Nirdosh, Marriage Palace, Kitty Party, Jack & Dil, Bhrahmlokam To Yamalokam Via Bhoolokam, Ishqaa, Sirphire, Mohalla Assi, Yaara O Dildaara, Fuddu, Ranviir The Marshal, Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho, What The Jatt, Ishq Samandar, Vodka Diaries, Veerey Ki Wedding, Raja Abroadiya, When Obama Loved Osama, 15 Lakh Kadon Aauga, Kota Junction, Nawabzaade, Family Of Thakurganj, Jagga Jiunda E, Gidarh Singhi, High End Yaariyan, Doorbeen, Vellapanti and TV Serials like Masakali, Code Red, Bhanwar. Dinesh has done casting for more than 3000 music videos. In this brief interview, you will get to know about his transition journey and how he created his marquee in this competitive industry.
How did you get into the Casting industry?
I had keen interest in the world of glamour & glitter, so I started casting in 2002 alongside my studies to gain knowledge about how the entertainment industry works and to build lasting relationships being at my hometown S.A.S Nagar, Mohali . In 2007, I won Mr. India North contest and in 2008 shifted to Mumbai. Along with acting, I thought of setting up my business as well. I had forte in casting so I became active in main stream casting in year 2010 in Mumbai. Honestly, I had never imagined that I will come this far in this particular casting domain.
Can your briefly breakdown your transition journey Casting and Casting to Direction?
I had started casting merely to understand the industry and connect with like-minded people. Later on in 2008 when I shifted to Mumbai, I started as a Television artist by portraying the role of ‘Jugnu’ in Star Plus popular show Mann ki Awaaz Pratigya in year 2009 end, Disney show Best Of Luck Nikki in year 2011 and hindi feature film Ishq Samandar in 2016. But alongwith acting, I started getting noticed as a Casting Director which was heart-warming. Under my Casting firm DS Creations™️ I did multiple successful projects. I got my name in India Book & Asia Book Of Records for maximum Castings, got Dada Saheb Phalke Icon Award Films for Best Casting Director along with other acknowledgements. Eventually, I made the initiative to take my creativity to another level by stepping into direction as a Music Video Director. I debuted by directing a romantic music video titled ‘Tum Kaho Toh’ released on Jan 20, 2020 by Zee Music Company. I got tremendous appreciation in Direction as well and just when I had started as a Director I got Best Debutant Director Award at 6th Darshnik Press Media Awards 2019. Till now all of my released music videos – Tum Kaho Toh, Hey Girl, Jatti, Dil Tune Toda Hai, Tera Naa, Mausam, Dynamite, Teriyan Akhiyan & Sorry have gotten fabulous response and I am really happy about that.
Now you are married and father to a baby girl Maesha Soi, how does it feel?
Marriage and then baby girl ‘Maesha Soi’ were the biggest turns of my life. My wife is my biggest asset and Maesha is my lifeline. On becoming dad I can instantly say I am still speechless and couldn’t express my feelings in words. I just want to make my baby girl ”Maesha Soi” proud and be the best dad possible. Very soon Maesha Soi will be seen in an excellent music video.

Sooner La La La La, Utto Utto, Lalla Lalla Lori, Hifaazat, Ban Sajna, Khojun Main Tujhko, Kya Karun, Cute Jeha, Utheya Si, Kahan Gum and many more music videos will be in front of the audience. I will also be directing a refreshing WebSeries, in addition to that, planning to kick -start with two exciting movies, will reveal everything in detail quite soon. Also I have started my own YouTube channel ‘DS Creations™️ Music’. The channel will be managed by my brother Deepak Soi & wife Sonia Malhotra Soi. It aims of promoting good content and new aspiring talents as well.
