In preparation for its upcoming launch event on August 13, Google is set to reveal the Pixel 9 series. A recent leak has provided additional details about the specifications of a third model that the company is reportedly planning to release this year.
This time, we believe there will be a Pro XL model in addition to the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. Photos purportedly of the phone have been uploaded to the XDA forums, suggesting that it is the most expensive of the three phones (via 9to5Google).
The Pixel 9 Pro has already been teased by Google, and it appears to be the same phone—just bigger—and some of its specifications may have been disclosed along with its design, according to text that appears on the screen of the handset.
In one of its versions, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is expected to have 256GB of storage and 16GB of RAM. Additionally noted is the Samsung Exynos 5400 modem, which also happens to allow satellite connectivity—a capability that Android 15 is reported to bring. This modem is probably going to be included in the other Pixel 9 models as well.
In contrast, the Google Pixel 8 comes with 128GB or 256GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM. In contrast, the Pixel 8 Pro offers up to 1TB of internal storage in addition to 12GB of RAM.
If this rumor is true, the Pixel 9 Pro XL will be the first phone in the Pixel series to have 16GB of RAM, maybe to allow for more AI trickery. It’s unclear if 16GB of RAM will be offered for the other Pixel 9 phones as well.
Not much remains for Google to unveil on August 13th, as all four of the upcoming Pixel models—including the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the replacement for the Google Pixel Fold—have already surfaced in regulatory filings.
