In the year 2009, before the days of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and all the social media sites of today, there was a social network called Myspace. Myspace was the largest social networking site in the world from 2005 to 2008. Which offered an interactive, user-submitted network of friends, personal profiles, blogs, groups, photos, music, and videos. With Music being one of the main focus’s of the site, you were able to distribute your music on Myspace from Tunecore and Reverbnation.
Owner of 50/50innertainment, Michael Mares, distributed Stryker & MFT’s music through Reverbnation to Myspace and started to gain lots of fans and streams of their music. Gaining millions of plays, they charted next to music artists like Eminem, Drake, Kanye West, Taylor Swift and more. In one year they made over $20,000 of their album Money Come & Go and ranked in over 100,000 fans in the process with over 800,000 downloads and streams combined.
Now that Myspace is a fossil and Tunecore and Reverbnation no longer work with Myspace, Stryker & MFT continue to gain money off their music through Spotify, Amazon, Deezer and over 50 online music retailers. They now have over 1,000,000 fans on all their social networks and continue to build. It’s easy to see why they are one of Colorado top Hip Hop duos.
