HMD Global Unveils Affordable “Vibe” Smartphone Exclusively for the US Market

New smartphones in the Pulse series have been unveiled by Human Mobile Devices (HMD) Global, the company that makes Android phones under the Nokia brand. The HMD Vibe is a dedicated model that HMD introduced for the US market, even though these phones are intended for a worldwide consumer base.

Its target market is American consumers on a tight budget. Let’s examine its features, attributes, and cost.

HMD Vibe Details

The mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor that powers the Vibe is appropriate for daily use. In addition to 128GB of expandable storage that can be expanded with a microSD card for users in need of more space, it comes with 6GB of RAM. The phone also features 4GB of virtual RAM.

Enough power for two days of use is guaranteed by its 4,000mAh battery. That being said, the Vibe only supports 10W wired charging, so those who prefer fast charging may be let down.

6.56 inches of HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 90 Hz make for a respectable display size. Additionally simple is the camera system.

There is a dual setup on the back, probably for portrait mode effects, with a 13MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The front-facing 5MP camera is useful for taking selfies. AI processing, skin tone optimization, and HDR are features that are present in every camera.

In addition, the phone has an IP52 rating, which means it can withstand light water splashes and dust. Options for connectivity include 4G LTE and Bluetooth 5.0. Notably, the device only uses face unlock for biometric security—it lacks a fingerprint scanner.

Cost and Accessibility

Set to release in May in the US, the HMD Vibe has a price tag of $150. Major retailers like Amazon and Best Buy will also be able to purchase it through the HMD website.
