Google Tasks Now Has Its Own Standalone Website

Google has officially launched a dedicated website for Google Tasks, making it easier to manage your to-do lists without using on Google Calendar.

Google launched a fullscreen Tasks interface in Google Calendar on the web in the end of 2023. Tasks was previously accessible directly through calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/r/tasks or through the Workspace sidebar in applications such as Gmail, Drive, and Docs. Tasks no longer redirecting to Google Calendar and now has its own independent website at tasks.google.com.

With the exception of the Tasks logo in the upper-left corner, the UI is essentially the same. Lists are shown as repositionable side-by-side cards, and users can conceal particular lists or switch between All Tasks and Starred Tasks using a navigation drawer. Additionally, new lists that smoothly sync with the mobile apps can be created.

The stand-alone Tasks website automatically adopts the theme of your device, in contrast to Google Calendar, which allows you to manually adjust the dark mode settings.

Based on our observations, Google Tasks standalone website was subtly introduced in the last several weeks, most likely following the end of January. As with the standalone Tasks app and its connection with Calendar on Android (although the latter has not yet made its way to iOS), Google seems to be preserving both experiences.
