Google improves the battery life of the Pixel 4a

A new software update for the Google Pixel 4a will alter how the battery functions. January 8, 2025, will mark the beginning of the upgrade. Android 13 continues to be its foundation.

New battery management features will be included in the update. The battery should become more stable as a result. However, some users might notice a shorter battery life between charges.

Additionally, the phone may charge more slowly. Additionally, the battery level displayed on the screen sometimes fluctuate. These updates won’t be present on all Pixel 4a phones.

According to Google, the update will be available for all Pixel 4a phones. Additionally, they are still usable as usual. The Pixel 4a 5G model, however, won’t be impacted.

Users of Pixel 4a are impacted by battery updates

Google will provide some Pixel 4a owners with a free replacement battery if the upgrade reduces the battery’s capacity. You can check online to see if you can get this.

In certain nations, you may also get a replacement battery by visiting repair shops. You can mail in your phone to be repaired in the United States. However, Google’s battery supply is limited.

First come, first served, then. Free batteries might not be given to phones with other damage. This includes cracks or water damage.

Before receiving the batteries, you might need to pay to have additional issues fixed if the phone is no longer covered under warranty. Google will give you a $50 or $100 discount on a new Pixel phone if you are unable to get a replacement battery. You can enroll in one of these options until January 8, 2026.

Until January 8, 2026, the Pixel 4a Battery Performance Program will be in effect. Owners of Pixel 4as should read Google’s post regarding the program for further information.
