Google Gives iOS Users More AI-Powered Search Options

Google is enhancing its search experience for iOS users by rolling out an advanced AI-powered search tool across its ecosystem.

The Google app and Chrome for iOS will also support the upgrade, which is being made available internationally this week, the company announced Tuesday (Feb. 20).

This new search tool uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze text and photos in real-time, making it easier for users to find information. Users can get fast search results without opening a new tab or performing a manual search by just highlighting, touching, or taking a picture.

“This feature enables a seamless search experience powered by AI, reducing the need for multiple steps, whether you’re researching a topic, identifying an object, or shopping online,” Google said in its release.

Furthermore, Google has improved AI Overview, taking it beyond simple object recognition. The enhanced technology now offers more thorough insights on a greater variety of topics, such as intricate diagrams, historical relics, and distinctive textures present in photographs.

“For instance, if you encounter an intriguing artwork in a museum, just tap the camera icon in the Search bar to snap a photo with Lens. AI Overview will instantly offer details about the piece, along with links to related articles and historical background,” the company explained.

In a few areas where AI Overviews are already available, the feature is initially being made available to English-speaking customers. Before being extended to Chrome on desktop and mobile devices, it will first be accessible through the Google app for iOS and Android.

Visual search is becoming more and more important in eCommerce, education, and daily information discovery as AI-powered search continues to transform how users engage with online material. Google’s most recent update demonstrates its dedication to improving search speed, usability, and accessibility across many platforms.
