Google Calendar is finally going into dark mode on the web

You won’t be blinded by the infrequent times you need to access Google Calendar at night on your Chromebook or PC. The long-awaited innovation that will save your eyes is now here. The calendar on Google is in dark mode.

On the Google Workspace Updates blog, Google said that Google Calendar would now be available in dark mode online. It has a number of new features, such as the option to switch between bright and dark modes and customize the calendar to fit the look of your device. It also has more contemporary and easily accessible buttons and updated iconography.

The goal of this upgrade is to bring all of Google’s apps up to speed with Google’s Material Design 3 standard. It prioritizes accessibility, ease of use, and a contemporary appearance.

There are also some new controls in the updated Google Calendar for Web. You can now access settings, trash, density and color, and add-ons by clicking on the Settings gear symbol, which brings up a sleek and contemporary drop-down menu. Here is the print menu as well.

The iconography appears clearer and is simpler to understand. The light gray hue that Google uses everywhere is present in the dialogue boxes. Everything appears neat and polished.

Here’s how to activate Google Calendar’s dark mode online.
Dark mode must be enabled before you may utilize it. Take these actions:

  • In Google Calendar, select the settings icon located in the upper right corner.
  • Select appearance.
  • Choose between Device default, Light, or Dark.

The Google Tasks feature, which is now integrated into the Calendar web interface, will also be impacted by this choice. The redesigned interface will be displayed to users who browse Tasks through tasks.google.com.

For Rapid Release domains, the new dark mode rollout starts today, while for Schedule Release domains, the update will begin on December 2, 2004. It will be made available to all Google Workspace users starting today.
