At the end of last week, Google confirmed the writing on the wall: It will retire Google Assistant later this year, which makes way for Gemini on its more equipment. Last year, with losing many features and Google focused her attention to Gemini, this step is no surprise. As long as the assistant is phased, however, it would not be as smart as you knew once. Google has closed many of its characteristics, and now the company has quietly announced that it is removing even more “weak features” as part of this infection.
In an updated support page, Google says that as it continues to improve Google accessory, it is “prioritizing experiences you love and to make them even better to invest in the underlying technology – which means that some weak features will not be supported.”
As part of it, the company is removing the following features from Google Assistant:
- Favorite, share, and ask where and when your photos were taken with your voice. You can still share your favorite and your photos in Google Photo App and see where and when your photos were taken on your smart displays and tablets.
- Change photo frame settings or ambient screen settings with your voice. You can still change your photo frame settings in your smart display settings.
- Translate your live conversation with someone who does not speak your language with interpreter mode. Translating the same word or phrase from one language to another will still work.
- Get birthday reminder information as part of the routine. You can still ask your assistant to set a reminder about the birthday that you care.
- Ask or listen to the already prescribed family vine announcements.
- Get daily updates from your assistant, like “send me the weather everyday.” You can schedule update when you make a custom routine.
- Use Google assistant on car items that have Bluetooth connection or AUX plug.
While the Google is removing many characteristics from the accessory, the most notable people include live conversation translations, daily updates and interpreter modes for the ability to schedule or hear the previous family bell announcements. Removing many of these features will be less useful to your auxiliary-managed smart display or speaker.
Install a routine in the form of a workaround
To remove most features, such as obtaining daily weather updates from auxiliary, Google recommends installing a routine as an alternative.
Google has not specified an accurate date when these assistant facilities will stop working. Instead, the company says that when you try to use a retired feature, you will receive a notification that tells you that it will stop working after a certain date.
