Gmail Introduces an AI-driven ‘Most relevant’ Search Enhancement

GmailGmail

Google is rolling out a “smarter search” feature in Gmail across Android, iOS, and web platforms that utilizes “AI to show you the most relevant results, faster.”

In the past, Gmail search would display “emails in chronological order based on keywords” or “Top results” followed by other emails.

This novel method considers recency, emails with the highest click rates, regular contacts, and additional variables. According to Google, “emails you’re looking for are far more likely to be at the top of your search results — saving you valuable time and helping you find important information more easily.”

After rolling out, a new “Most relevant” dropdown will appear below the Gmail search bar and filter carousel, which you may not need to use as frequently anymore. You can still choose to browse by “Most recent.”

This update is being launched “globally for users with personal Google accounts” across web and mobile applications. It will broaden to include “business users in the future.”
