Find Out About These 5 New Features in iOS 18.3 for iPhone

Apple is taking a short break with iOS 18.3 before releasing more sophisticated Apple Intelligence features. The update includes a number of little but significant changes that will improve your everyday iPhone experience, in addition to security patches and bug fixes. Here are some things to anticipate after updating to iOS 18.3.

1. By default, Apple Intelligence is now enabled.

Users had to explicitly activate Apple Intelligence when it first appeared in iOS 18.1. With iOS 18.3, it is now automatically activated on compatible Macs, iPhones, and iPads.

Toggle it off by going to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri if you’d rather.

2. AI-Powered Summaries of Notifications Are Now Italicized

Although Apple Intelligence has the ability to summarize alerts, this feature has been criticized for its sporadic errors. iOS 18.3 will display AI-generated summaries in italics text to identify them as such, making it easier to tell them apart from conventional notifications.

3. News and entertainment apps do not have notification summaries enabled

Apple has temporarily turned off AI-generated summaries for apps classified as News & Entertainment due to worries about false information. Confusion may result from some summaries that have inaccurately depicted news events. Following an improvement in accuracy, Apple intends to bring the feature back.

4. The Calculator App Restores the Ability to Repeat Operations

The Calculator app is bringing back a long-loved feature! In the past, users may apply the previous operation again by tapping the equals (=) button (10 × 2 = 20, for example; press again for 40, then 80, and so on). In iOS 18, this feature was inadvertently deleted; it is currently being added back.

5. Instant Identification Features for Visual Intelligence

iOS 18.3 improves the Visual Intelligence capabilities of your iPhone 16 if it has a Camera Control button. By simply pointing your camera toward animals, plants, and event details, you can now quickly identify them without first taking a picture. You can choose to immediately add an event to your calendar if it identifies one.

What Comes Next? iOS 18.4’s Significant Improvement to Siri

The largest AI update—Apple’s more intelligent Siri—is anticipated in iOS 18.4 this spring, even though iOS 18.3 brings minor improvements. Apple expects that the next upgrade would improve Siri’s reputation by introducing improved app integration and personal context understanding.

Keep an eye out since iOS 18.4 will shortly begin beta testing!
