Exclusive Interview Rising Artist: FastlaneLord

What first got you into music?

In 2008 I was working for a telemarketing company where I met a dude at the time named Row. At that time me and Row were cool, sitting around at work me and him had a freestyle battle with a few other co-workers. At the time I spit a freestyle that left my workers amazed at the talent I had. So after this freestyle session, he invited me over to some apartments,  Not knowing that the people I was going to meet at these apartments were a part of a rap group. AT this time one of the affiliates of this group had a relationship with Maino the rapper from Brooklyn. This person’s name was Bashaun. Going through real-life issues I couldn’t continue to pursue music at the time. Later on, years later picking it back up.

Who inspired you to make music?

My biggest inspiration is 50 Cent. watching him come into the game as an underground artist and changing the game forever.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Honestly, I make music based on real-life experiences. Through the years of being on this earth, I’ve been through a lot, so I use it to push the pen.

What is your creative process like?

Well, I have a home studio and also go to big studios, but I just listen to the beat and it gives me a story. From there I just put it on the hook first and mumble words until it’s filled in. After that it’s history.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Lil Baby, 50 Cent, and Jay-Z

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

Right now I would have to give that one to Lil Baby, being that he may be one of the biggest artists out, if not the biggest.

What is one message you would give to your fans?

Without y’all, there couldn’t be no me and I will always show appreciation to each and every one of yall.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

No matter what bumps are ahead of you, keep pushing and give it your all, because hard times won’t last.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

The way the artists are paid out. The industry sucks a lot of good artists dry and leaves them with very little. Some pour their all into it and that isn’t cool at all.

What’s next for you?

After music I hope to get into some bigger financial endeavors, I want to use music as a stepping stone for bigger things. I would like to get into some philanthropy situations to help give back to those who really need it. I grew up in a rough environment, not by choice. And I know there’s many others out there who have been through similar or worse situations and it wasn’t by choice, but what they were born into.
