Erik Roberto has mastered the art of hairdressing on the highest levels, leading to multiple awards and a high profile clientele. But the artist wanted to go beyond that. And fulfill the dream of hair for people, who are in a little different situation than the traditional barber shop client.
Erik left his home place of San Pedro De Macoris 17 years ago to move to New York, and this is where he opened up his now renowned barbershop. New York is full of many big businesses including barbershops, but he has more than managed to make his mark with one of the most popular barber shops the world has! Many people frequent this shop, including some famous names, all looking to have the treatment of the talented Erik and staff’s hands.
Several key barbershop competitions run every year, including the CT Barber Expo challenge, which Erik has won. Roberto was also the first barber in the world to perform Scalp Micropigmentation (SHP). SHP is a process that recreates the hair follicle in areas where the hair is not growing very much or has stopped entirely. SHP may be used to treat baldness, alopecia or scars. Erik takes great pride in being able to
make a difference to his customers’ lives, as he says: It is a great pleasure to be able to please our clients, meet their needs and at the same time suggest what works best for them. That has been our success in the American public, knowing how to handle all types of scalp.
As co-founder, Erik also has the Gerow Hair Ink clinic, based in Manhattan, New York. Again, this clinic is not short of customers, with many regular and new visitors flocking to experience the work of the talented team, once again including plenty of famous named people, who are only too happy to rock one of many different hairstyles on offer.
This clinic has become well known around many countries including Brazil, the United Kingdom and the United States. With talented people like Erik and the projects he runs, it will be interesting to see where Scalp Micropigmentation goes next. No doubt there will be plenty of people happy to work with him and experience the man in action, helping to add to the increasingly expanding SMP industry. It is a practice that although already performed on a large scale, could see its usage expand even further
around the world, opening up new possibilities in the category of hair!
