Check out the latest updates for Android users on Google Maps

Google is releasing the updated Maps app for Android users. Most full-screen user interfaces have been replaced by sheet-based layouts in the makeover.

These sheets emphasize the backdrop layer, have more rounded corners, and display the map in more locations.

Users can swipe back from the left or right edge of their smartphones to close these sheets, which will display listings with a new “x” button in the top-right corner. Users may no longer swipe up or on the search bar to view the map, though, due to the makeover.

Furthermore, Google is altering how people look up directions. Once the destination has been entered, the top screen displays only the start/end location, even if the initial user interface remains the same. This user interface also makes use of sheets.

The facelift is a part of a series of comparable UI updates that Google Maps has been rolling out all year.

The redesigned Google Maps is now available for Android users, but iOS users have not yet been able to use it.
