Apple Plans To Integrate AI Technology From Multiple Companies, With Meta Also In The Mix

Apple recently unveiled their AI strategy, which involves incorporating new Apple Intelligence technology into its apps, such as Siri, as well as introducing ChatGPT.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Facebook’s parent company Meta Platforms has considered combining its generative AI model with Apple’s recently revealed AI system for iPhones.

Apple has bigger intentions for incorporating AI technologies from multiple companies into its products. The Cupertino-based tech behemoth is also in talks with Alphabet’s Google, its long-time search partner, and other AI firms, including those in China, where OpenAI’s ChatGPT is banned.

At its developer conference earlier this month, Apple announced a number of AI improvements for its apps and operating systems, as well as a collaboration with OpenAI to incorporate ChatGPT technology into its devices.

Apple stated that its AI is developed with privacy “at its core,” enabling these new capabilities through a combination of on-device processing and cloud computing.

Anthropic, an AI firm, has been in negotiations with Apple about integrating their generative AI into Apple Intelligence, according to persons familiar with the situation.

These conversations are currently ongoing and may not result in formal agreements. However, successful transactions would assist AI companies in expanding the distribution of their products.

The financial terms of these potential collaborations are unknown, although discussions have explored the possibility of AI businesses selling premium subscriptions via Apple Intelligence.

Additionally, Perplexity, an AI search firm, has been in talks with Apple about incorporating their generative AI technology into Apple Intelligence.

Apple tries to set itself apart from competitors such as Microsoft and Google by emphasizing privacy as a primary feature.
