Anurag Kashyap, one of Bollywood’s most lauded filmmakers, is best known for films with enormous public appeal, including Sacred Games and Gangs of Wasseypur. Based on the same-titled novel by Vikram Chandra, Sacred Games was one of the most popular series on the OTT platform. Although there were rumours to the contrary, the third season of the show was apparently shelved. Anurag Kashyap has now clarified the situation and explained the closure in an interview. Anurag Kashyap discussed how the third season of Sacred Games was cut short and chastised Netflix for knowing about it when he made an appearance in The Bombay Journey YouTube series produced by Mashable India. Vikram Motwane was operating Sacred Games, he claimed. He invited me to join the project ten days before I was scheduled to travel to shoot Mukkabaaz. I informed him that although I was always fascinated, they were uncomfortable with me. They had been informed by some locals that I didn’t attract female customers. It was my space, and gradually they changed their minds. There was supposed to be a third season, but they cancelled it; Netflix would know why.
