iOS 17.1.2 and iPadOS 17.1.2, which are minor updates to the iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 platforms that were unveiled in September, have been released by Apple. These updates come after iOS 17.1.1, a bug-fix release that was just released.
In order to download iOS 17.1.2 and iPadOS 17.1.2 for compatible iPhones and iPads, users should go to General > Software Update in the Settings app. As stated in Appleās release notes, the main focus of iOS 17.1.2 is security improvements, particularly resolving vulnerabilities that may have been exploited in earlier iterations of iOS.
Nevertheless, there have been complaints about the most recent update. Some iPhone users are experiencing difficulties with the iOS 17.1.2 update, according to a GottaBeMobile report. Some of these problems are brand-new, while others have remained from earlier iterations of iOS 17.
The report also notes that the current list of iOS 17.1.2 bugs includes rapid battery drain, Bluetooth difficulties, Wi-Fi problems, Exchange problems, and issues with both first- and third-party apps.
iPhone XS and later, iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2nd generation and later, iPad Pro 10.5-inch, iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation and later, iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 6th generation and later, and iPad mini 5th generation and later are among the devices that can be updated with this version.
Furthermore, Apple has discovered weaknesses in the way web content is processed that could expose private data. Notably, reports have surfaced indicating that these vulnerabilities may have been leveraged in iOS versions prior to iOS 16.7.1.
The first security issue is an out-of-bounds read, which WebKit Bugzilla identified as 265041 and assigned CVE-2023-42916. Apple has addressed this problem by enhancing input validation. The second vulnerability, identified as CVE-2023-42917 and described in WebKit Bugzilla as 265067, concerns memory corruption that may result in arbitrary code execution. Apple has improved locking mechanisms in response to this concern.
According to the California-based behemoth, users are highly encouraged to update to iOS 17.1.2 as soon as possible in order to take advantage of the most recent security improvements and shield their devices from potential vulnerabilities.
