Aetna Nathan Young – Diverse Early Career Experiences Before College

Nathan Young’s passion for connecting individuals with service animals began long before his current success. Nathan grew up with his three siblings and parents on a ranch in Missoula, Montana. Nathan, his younger sister, and older brother, spent countless hours a day helping their mom and dad with all the responsibilities that come with owning livestock. If you ask any of Nathan’s family, they’ll tell you that you never had to ask Nathan twice to help with the animals on the property. Nathan woke up before his siblings to spend time with the animals, and only had to be asked twice to go back inside for the night.

During high school, Nathan became involved with 4-H and began networking with other people with similar passions. Though the Young’s worked hard every day, their finances would not be able to support Nathan’s college education. Throughout Nathan’s high school career, he picked up whatever job he could get his hands on to support his future education. Nathan knew he wanted to go to college and that he had a passion for animals, but worried that a passion driven career would not support him financially.

Despite the financial challenges, Nathan remained determined to pursue his passion for animals and further his education. He continued to work hard in school and in various jobs, saving every penny he could towards his college fund. Nathan Young also sought out scholarships, grants, and other financial aid opportunities to help alleviate the burden on his family.

Through his involvement in 4-H and networking with like-minded individuals, Nathan discovered potential career paths that aligned with his passion for animals. He realized that with dedication and perseverance, he could turn his passion into a successful career.

Nathan Young’s journey taught him the value of hard work, determination, and resourcefulness. Despite the obstacles he faced, he remained focused on his goals and never lost sight of his dreams. In the end, Nathan’s persistence paid off as he was able to secure enough financial support to attend college and pursue a career that he was truly passionate about.

Nathan didn’t take the typical route to college due to needing time to save up money. He worked until he was 20 years old, before applying to college, to be sure he knew exactly what degree he wanted to work toward. His job experience by the time he was 20 was more diverse than any of his peers.  From working as a barista at Starbucks, delivering online orders for a local boutique, clerical work at a local hospital that led to a short stint working customer support for Aetna, or his work at the front desk of a county municipal court, Nathan had learned what he would and wouldn’t want to do in a future career. The Aetna Nathan Young role was in customer service where he learned a lot about healthcare, billing, and customer service.

Nathan’s diverse work experience not only helped him save up money for college but also gave him a unique perspective on the world. He learned how to interact with a wide range of people, developed strong communication skills, and gained valuable problem-solving abilities. By the time he started college, Nathan was confident in his decision to pursue a degree in business administration, knowing that his real-world experience would set him apart from his classmates. His unconventional path to higher education had already taught him important life lessons that would serve him well in both his academic and professional pursuits. Nathan’s journey was proof that there is no “right” way to achieve success, and that hard work and determination can lead to great opportunities, no matter where you start.

Nathan’s diverse job history offered the opportunity to meet and connect with many people from different walks of life. A pivotal moment for Nathan, was a conversation he had with a customer he was supporting while working customer support for a major insurance company, Aetna. Nathan Young had thought this job would be mundane and clerical until this moment. Nathan was talking with a customer who was interested in setting up insurance for his employees at an equestrian rehabilitation center. His interest sparked, realizing he didn’t need to become a veterinarian to work with animals and make enough money to have his own company and employees.

As Nathan listened to the customer describe the incredible work being done at the equestrian rehabilitation center, he was moved by the passion and dedication of the staff. The customer explained how they used horse therapy to help individuals with physical and mental disabilities, and how important it was for them to have proper insurance coverage to continue their important work.

Nathan was inspired by the customer’s story and realized that his job wasn’t just about processing paperwork and answering phone calls – it was about helping people protect their livelihoods and make a difference in their communities. From that moment on, Nathan approached his job with a new sense of purpose and commitment.

In 2012, Nathan Young signed his acceptance letter for Montana State University and later declared his major of Business and marketing. After graduating, Nathan connected with local ranches, animal rehabilitation centers, and met his current business partner and best friend, Marc. Marc’s background of volunteering at a local animal shelter during his childhood, and Nathan’s business mind created the company they own today.

In 2016, Nathan purchased an empty building with the dream of office spaces and animal training spaces. Since 2017, Nathan and Marc have successfully built a 20-employee business that has connected over 300 service animals to those in need.

Nathan and Marc’s business has grown exponentially since its humble beginnings in 2017. Their dedication to providing top-notch service animal training, healthcare, and placement services has earned them a stellar reputation in the community. They have expanded their office spaces and training facilities to accommodate the growing demand for their services.

In addition to connecting service animals with those in need, Nathan and Marc have also started offering therapy animal training programs for individuals seeking emotional support animals. This new venture has been met with great success, further solidifying their position as leaders in the industry.

Looking towards the future, Nathan Young and Marc have ambitious plans to continue expanding their business and reach even more people in need of service animals. Their passion for helping others and dedication to excellence ensures that they will continue making a positive impact on the lives of both humans and animals for years to come.
