The art of philanthropy is quite amazing one. It is the art of using what we have and are blessed with to uplift those around us. Many of us would like to be philanthropists but are unable to because, well, it is much harder than it seems.
Being an uplifter of others usually involves making sacrifices yourself. This could be sacrificed in terms of time, energy, and monetary resources.
Ahmed Najm is one of those who had the dreams of being a helper of others one day. He had it in mind to harness the power of photography to help others. Lucky for thousands of photographers around the world, he’s found a way to make his dream a reality, and what’s more, he’s doing it in the most unique way he knows how.
The Ahmed Najm Way
There is more than one way to be a philanthropist. Many assume philanthropy requires having millions of dollars to give out on a daily basis, but this couldn’t be further from the truth.
According to Ahmed Najm, all you have to possess is an open heart and a passion to make use of what you have to help others. And what you have doesn’t even have to be a material possession.
Before Ahmed Najm had the resources, he had the passion and the medium. He had a love for photography and he was hellbent on making use of it to uplift and inspire.
Fast forward years later and it’s safe to say that he’s done it. And what’s even more fascinating is the amazing strategy he used to get there.
Multiple Fronts
Ahmed Najm happens to currently be the managing director of Metrography Agency, the first and only Iraqi photo agency. Along with that, he’s also the managing director of Worldpress Photo, an outlet with the main goal of connecting the world with stories that matter.
Mr. Najm is also the co-founder of Vim foundation, a charity organization that seeks to deal with many of the major problems currently on the throat of our society such as natural disasters, inequality, hazards, and a host of others.
And through “Humans of Kurdistan”, where he also occupies the position as a co-founder, Ahmed Najm harnesses the power of beautiful photography to touch and inspire people all around.
Same Objectives
Despite all of the multiple fronts he uses to achieve his goal, the objective remains the same – to help and uplift people. To touch lives and bring happiness to others through a series of programs and contests and outreaches.
And just like the objective, the medium, too, is similar.

For those who’ve read this far, it is already obvious that there is something common among all of the enterprises that Ahmed Najm finds himself in – photography.
He loves photography and always seeks for a way to employ and tap into the potential of that great art to change lives in the most profound way.
All of these – the multiple fronts and enterprises; the same objective; the same medium – are what set Ahmed Najm’s approach to upliftment apart from most others.
As for the future, Mr. Najm remains committed to his goal and will not be deterred from anything else.
