It might not be anticipated to arrive until July 2025 at the latest, but it will be eight months before a possible launch, and this is the first look at the Pixel 10’s likely design.
The renowned industry leaker Sonny Dickson provided this detailed examination of the exterior features. He shows images of a suggested case for the Pixel 10 in his most recent post on X (formerly Twitter). The “blank” versions of the phone will serve as the foundation for these cases.
These blanks, which are usually made of aluminum, are given to accessory manufacturers so they can work with hardware that has the different buttons, sliders, ports, cameras, and screens in the right places without having to see the final product. Peripherals are supplied relatively early in the production process since they are designed by third-party producers.
The only discernible edge feature is at the base of the device, where there appears to be a cutout for the USB-C charging and connectivity cable, due to the direct angle of the photos. This is not surprising considering that this is where the USB port has historically been found on the Pixel line.
The fact that Google is keeping the camera bar is also not surprising. This appeared with the Pixel 6, and in addition to meeting the physical specifications of a smartphone camera, the horizontal bar that ran the entire length of the back gave the Pixel line a distinctive and instantly recognizable look. With the Pixel 9, that was changed by sculpting curved ends instead of dropping them to be flush with the device, which reduced the width of the bar.
It’s logical to assume that the presumedly titled Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL would adopt the same design cue if this case indicates that the Pixel 10 will keep the rounded camera bar.
In mid-August 2024, the current Pixel 9 family was revealed. It wouldn’t feel out of place for the Pixel 10 family to have a comparable time frame. The Pixel 9a, a mid-range version of the existing phones, is a minor issue that needs to be resolved before then. One possible launch event that might coincide with the early May release of the Pixel 8a is Google’s I/O Developer Conference.
