Google attempted to update the Google Photos app’s Library two years ago, but it later undid that update. The Google Photos collection will now be referred to as “Collections,” as the firm appears to be trying again to rebrand it.
Collections will replace the Library tab in the Google Photos app
Two days ago, Google announced that Collections will take the place of the Library tab in Google Photos so that users may “find what you need, faster.” The tab provides easy access to the Favorites and Trash folders, even though it has the same logo as the library. Based on your usage, the remaining sections are set up in a 2×2 grid arrangement.
The “On This device” folder will take the place of the current “Photos On Device” folder. You can view the locally stored photos and videos on your tablet or smartphone in grid format by opening this folder. Some users may find this annoying because it takes an extra tap to view photos and movies that are stored on your smartphone.
Albums, Archive, Documents, Locked, People, Recently Added, Screenshots, and Videos are some of the other areas. The app no longer has a folder named Utilities. Now, each of those utilities—Free Up Space, Import Photos, Locked Folder, Create New, Manage Photo Frames, and Move Photos To Archive—has its own area.
According to Google, most Android and iOS smartphone and tablet users should be able to see the new feature in the coming days. Try updating the firmware on your Galaxy mobile if there is one available if you haven’t noticed the new Collections tab in the Google Photos app.
