With the SU7 sedan, the Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi’s debut entry into the electric vehicle (EV) market, it has garnered positive reviews. Customers did, however, have some criticism for the manufacturer, which, oddly for a car that has already been unveiled, resulted in a few minor adjustments to the design.
According to documents submitted to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Xiaomi has added a few new elements to give it a sportier appearance, even if the overall design is still the same.
The rear of the car has undergone the most modification. To make it a little more proportionate, the firm seems to have designed a smaller rear insignia. The brand’s name used to occupy nearly all of the trunk’s space, but it is now noticeably smaller.
The recently established brand has also expanded its range of options to include 21-inch wheels (before, the largest size available was 20 inches), and the brake calipers are now available in an array of colors. Lastly, carbon fiber mirror covers are now available as an option, which should give the design a little sportier appearance.
The source of these modifications is unknown, although Xiaomi recently disclosed that it called renowned former BMW designer Chris Bangle to its offices to get his opinion on the vehicle. He exuded praise for the efforts of the Xiaomi design team in a video.
The top model will have access to 664 hp (673 PS / 495 kW) with two motors, allowing it to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.78 seconds.
Xiaomi projects that the SU7 will be able to go up to 497 miles (800 km) between charges thanks to a 101 kWh battery pack. The model can recover up to 137 miles (220 km) of range at a fast-charging station in just five minutes, all thanks to its 800-volt architecture.
Expecting nothing less from a tech business, the insides of the SU7 will also be remarkable. It has a 16.1-inch infotainment screen with the newest technology installed to make it feel as quick and simple to use as the newest tablets, in addition to a 7.1-inch instrument screen.
