ASUS has updated the ROG Zephyrus G14’s appearance for the 2024 model. To put things in perspective, the company is up against more and more competition in the 14-inch gaming laptop market, from devices like the Razer Blade 14 and the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14. As usual, AMD Ryzen 8000 APUs and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU with a 90 W TGP and Dynamic Boost are among the most potent internal components that ASUS has fitted the new ROG Zephyrus G14 with.
A new OLED display from ASUS has also been added. It boasts a 120 Hz refresh rate, 3K resolution, and a 16:10 aspect ratio. This time around, the ROG Zephyrus G14 is dressed more sveltely thanks to a new aluminum case that lowers its weight to 1.5 kg and its thickness to 15.9 mm. In addition, the ROG Zephyrus G14 2024 has better battery life due to many AI optimizations, larger keycaps on the keyboard, and louder speakers than its predecessor.
The ROG Zephyrus G16, on the other hand, has a similar design but is 14.9 mm thinner than its 14-inch version. It should come as no surprise that the ROG Zephyrus G16’s larger casing and display panel make it heavier than the ROG Zephyrus G14. Even in such case, the 16-inch versions weigh only 1.85 kg. Because of the larger casing, ASUS is able to install an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU with Dynamic Boost set to 115 W in addition to an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor.
Furthermore, ASUS fitted the ROG Zephyrus G16 with a 240 Hz OLED panel that produces 2.5K of peak brightness at 500 nits. Remarkably, the AniMe Matrix displays on the display lids of the previous models have been replaced by fewer LED lights grouped in a slash design that can do basic animations. At the time of writing, ASUS had not announced the price or availability of the ROG Zephyrus G14 or ROG Zephyrus G16, despite having disclosed the specifications and photos for both laptops.
