At the time of the device’s Chinese launch today, Oppo declared that its most recent flagship, the Find X7 Ultra, is the first smartphone with two periscope cameras. According to Oppo, one has “the biggest telephoto sensor in any smartphone” and a 1/1.56-inch sensor with a 3x zoom. The secondary cameras on some phones may have problems taking pictures in low light because larger sensors generally produce better images. A 6x optical zoom is available with a 1/2.51-inch sensor on the second periscope lens.
Two of the four 50-megapixel cameras Oppo has integrated into the back of the phone are the zoom lenses. These also include an ultrawide camera (sensor size: 1/1.95-inch) and a main camera that is the first on the market to use Sony’s second-generation 1-inch-type sensor (the LYT-900). Oppo’s new HyperTone Image Engine powers the four sensors on the software front.
The Find X7 Ultra has other specifications that are typical of a flagship smartphone. It is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that can be fast-charged at up to 100W wired or 50W wirelessly, and Qualcomm’s most recent Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor powers it. Its 6.82-inch 1440p screen can display HDR content at a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of up to 4500 nits.
Unfortunately, similar to the Find X6 Pro from the previous year, it appears that this phone will only be available in China and will not be released in the US or Europe. A model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage costs ¥5,999 (about $845) in China, while the top-end model, which has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, costs ¥6,999 (about $990).
