Own an Acura or Honda? A fuel pump issue has prompted a recall for more than 2.5 million vehicles

The American division of Honda Motor is recalling over 2.5 million cars in the United States because of a fuel pump issue that raises the possibility of an engine failure or stalling while driving.
A gasoline pump flaw that raises the possibility of an engine failure or stalling while driving is the reason for Honda Motor Company’s American division recalling over 2.5 million cars in the United States.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has released documentation indicating that the gasoline pump impeller utilized in Acura and Honda vehicles manufactured between 2017 and 2020 was not correctly formed. Low-density impellers are the outcome, and regulators stated that these impellers “may deform and interfere with the fuel pump body” over time, eventually resulting in a malfunctioning fuel pump.

According to the NHTSA, a malfunctioning fuel pump module increases the likelihood of a crash and injuries as the car’s engine may not start or may stall while you’re driving. According to Honda, there have been no collision or injury reports in relation to this recall up to this point.

The carmaker announced on Thursday that it will replace fuel pumps for all recall-affected vehicles at no cost in phases, starting in February and sending out owner notification letters in that order.

“At the time of this announcement, countermeasure replacement parts are not available in sufficient quantities for all recalled vehicles. American Honda plans to notify vehicle owners in phases,” the company stated.

Based on NHTSA documentation, dealer notice was supposed to begin earlier this week.

Using the NHTSA website and/or the recall lookup tools offered by Honda and Acura, drivers can verify whether their particular car is covered by this recall. The affected models are:

1. From 2018 to 2020 Honda Accord

2. Honda Accord Hybrid, 2017–2020

3. Honda Civic 4D 2018–2020

4. Honda Civic 2D 2018–2020

Due to a missing fuse on the power circuit of the outside 12-Volt battery cables, the NHTSA and Honda also stated earlier this week that more than 106,000 2020–2022 CR-V hybrid vehicles would be recalled. According to regulators, this might lead to a short circuit or overheating of the battery cable during a collision.
