Ponniyin Selvan, a film by Mani Ratnam, was written by Janani K. In its second week, Part 2 is doing exceptionally well at the box office. The movie played in theatres for ten days and earned more than Rs 150 crore (net) there. The historical drama gained pace over the weekend and scored strong ratings. This is excellent news for the Ponniyin Selvan 2 team. The movie will probably remain in theatres for a few more weeks if things keep up.
While the Tamil version of the movie is doing well, other languages have had a mixed reaction to it. According to preliminary estimates, Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 brought in close to Rs 10 crore (net) in India. This brings the domestic box office’s 10-day total to Rs 152.80 crore (nett). The overall occupancy for the Tamil version was 55.15%.
Ponniyin Selvan’s Kannada adaptation made Rs 25.4 lakh in 10 days. It is reportedly the most successful Kannada-dubbed movie so far in 2023.
