Google’s Pixel 8 series won big at the Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO) despite fierce competition from companies like Apple, Samsung, and OnePlus. One of the highlights of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, which was held in Barcelona recently, was the presentation of these awards.
OnePlus Open and the Apple iPhone 15 series were among the competitors, but the Pixel 8 Series emerged victorious with the coveted “Best Smartphone” title. The GSMA, the organization that oversees the GLOMO awards, said that Google was honored for its “outstanding performance, innovation, and leadership.” Additionally, it’s a significant advancement for generative AI in the smartphone industry. The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro from Google are bets on artificial intelligence.
A sort of streak is broken by Google. Winners from the previous year were the Apple iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max from 2022. With the release of its new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, Qualcomm won the “Breakthrough Device Innovation” award. For “fundamental hardware and software innovation within smartphone devices themselves,” the jury felt Qualcomm was deserving of recognition.
Beginning in October 2023, Google released the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
Major advancements over the previous generation were made in the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Google’s brand-new Tensor G3 chip powers both devices. Both smartphones now have larger screens thanks to Google. Actua and Super Actua displays, respectively, with increased screen brightness are featured on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro cameras.
