The date for Honor’s official unveiling of its upcoming flagship smartphones has been announced. It is anticipated that the “sufficiently advanced” Magic6 series will debut their first top-end limited edition variant on that day, along with an update to the most recent version of the OEM’s Android skin. This may help to explain why their launch has been extended into a two-day event in early 2024.
Since the devices in question are also billed as the most Magic smartphones available, Honor may be more than most in using an old line attributed to Arthur C. Clarke (“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic”) as the opening for its introductory teaser for its upcoming major product event (even though this isn’t the first time it’s done so).
Additionally, the devices are now formally supported to run a fresh version of MagicOS straight out of the box. The OEM has not yet provided additional information about the software, but it is most likely based on Android 14 and may be updated to support features like satellite connectivity and improved primary camera sensors.
Along with incorporating the new AI features of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Magic6 line is also expected to include a limited edition device that will be the first in the series and was created in partnership with Porsche Design.
As a result, the “magic technology feast” that will be served in its honor on January 10 and 11, 2024 in the brand’s home China, will now span across its upgrades.
